ENVIRONMENTAL TOURISM
La Macina ambiente
La Macina ambiente is a non-profit
co-operative and can boast of 20 years of
experience in the fields of responsible
tourism and environmental education. It
co-ordinates and manages the Centre for
Environmental Education in Catria and Monte
Nerone, which in this vast mountain area
characterised by gorges and canyons, has a
network of hostels and refuges especially
suited to responsible tourism, resident ial
educational activities and sports activities
in the open. Such facilities include holiday
homes, rooms, hostels, agri-tourist houses
and mountain refuges. All the buildings have
complete conveniences and are of high
standards. Some
 of
them are used by families, groups and
associations on a self-catering basis. As
part of the TERRE ALTE consortium, La Macina
operates in a vast area from the Marches to
Tuscany. La Macina also offers a wide range
of services including trekking, MTB,
horse-riding, river and torrent excursions,
climbing and winter tourism with snowshoe
walking.
In
brief we offer the following services:
A)
Environmental and naturalist education
through the CEA and the preparation of
educational programmes in collaboration with
state schools,

Green and responsible tourism through our
range of accommodation and such initiatives
as “Walking in the Apennines” which is
attracting more and more excursionists

Projects of social and environmental value
D)
Educational, scientific, informative,
tourist and environmental publications
E)
Social and educational initiatives appealing
to the public such as fairs, events and so
on
F)
Summer camps for children in collaboration
with various groups
The environmental section of La Macina
pursues the goal of teaching sustainable
development
